Many thanks to Botany Bay detectives who have pursued and rearrested an 18 year old suspected taxi driver attacker, who had been released on bail as an 18th birthday present from the judiciary.

The 18 year old was released on bail last Tuesday for his birthday celebrations, and immediately disappeared.

At the time the NSW Taxi Council said the move shattered the Industry’s faith in the Judiciary’s ability to deal seriously with those who pick on taxi drivers.

“Attacking a driver is a serious crime – not a misdemeanour.  Even though we have tough legislation in NSW to increase the penalty of those found guilty of attacking taxi drivers, the Judiciary has yet to exercise the full weight of the law,” said Mr Harrison.
