Cabcharge E-Tickets have arrived

The Cabcharge eTicket will replace the paper Account Coded Blue Docket forever.

Technological changes over the last decade have meant the Blue Docket is now a dated form of payment that lacks the necessary security measures to protect driver income.

The eTicket is a more convenient, secure and easier to use payment option…it’s like a Blue Docket that can be used only once, but with added intelligence such as a magnetically encoded strip. The magnetic strip provides greater security than available on paper dockets – such as a limited life span, and the ability to “hot list” lost or stolen eTickets.

Payment for trips undertaken using an eTicket will be transferred to taxi group bank accounts twice a week or as agreed directly into your nominated bank account. This means quicker funds turnaround - no more waiting until month’s end for payment. There are no fees or commissions so payment is on the face of the fare.

To encourage operators and drivers to switch quickly to the new system,

Cabcharge is offering to pay a 2% commission on the total amount of all transactions electronically processed above the bench marked performance of your network in the past 24 weeks.

Those who have already met the bench mark will receive the 2% immediately, while those below will need to reach the bench mark before being eligible for the incentive.

Using a Cabcharge eTicket

Using an eTicket is as easy as using any credit or charge card, just follow the following simple steps at the end of each journey:

  1. Insert the eTicket into the EFTPOS terminal to read the data on the magnetic strip in the same way you would any credit or charge card.
  2. Enter the amount of the fare via the keypad.
  3. You will not need to enter the trip details as these are automatically captured from the GPS coordinates and printed on the receipt.
  4. The entered details are transmitted for verification at which time the eTicket is recorded as “used” so can not be used again – you will be notified if the eTicket is not valid.
  5. Obtain a signed receipt and keep it with the used eTicket.
  6. Provide a second copy of the receipt to the passenger if required.

In the event of your EFTPOS not working and a customer presents you with an eTicket – you use the Green Emergency Docket and keep the eTicket attached to it when you lodge the paperwork at the depot for processing.

Answering Your Questions

Q: Who keeps the eTicket when it is used?

A: The driver keeps the eTicket with the EFTPOS receipt and hands them both in to the Operator at the end of the shift.

Q: Can an eTicket be used more than once?

A: No. The eTicket is not valid once it has already been used. The strip across the eTicket contains the latest anti-fraud technology and will prevent the reusing of the ticket.

Q: What happens if the EFTPOS isn’t working?

A: The driver must fill out a green emergency docket and attach the eTicket to it. Drivers should check the eTicket to see if there is a maximum value when using a green emergency docket – if there is one it will be printed on the face of the eTicket.

Q: What happens if the fare is under the maximum value?

A: The account holder will only be charged the fare.

Q: What does the driver do if the eTicket is invalid?

A: The driver will need to ask for a different form of payment just as if a credit card was invalid. If the driver tries to process the invalid eTicket on a green emergency docket you will not receive payment.
