The NSW Taxi Council is pleased to see the NSW Government responding positively and signing off on the annual indexing of Taxi Fares adjustment for 1 June 2026.

This is following calls made by the NSW Taxi Council CEO, Nick Abrahim during a series of Ministerial Roundtables held with other Industry Leaders and Government Representatives, including Transport Secretary, Josh Murray, working through the Fuel Security challenges.

Nick Abrahim said;

“We thank the NSW Government for their swift response to calls made by the NSW Taxi Council to bring forward the annual indexing review of Taxi Fares to 1 June 2026. This is an important measure for Taxi Operators and Drivers to help manage rising costs associated with Operating and delivering Taxi services. These rise in costs include fuel, insurances and other associated costs.”

Changes to the NSW Taxi Fares Order will be effective from 1 June 2026 and a link to the new fares order is below.

The NSW Taxi Council is also advocating for additional support and relief for Operators with Diesel Fuel Vehicles, particularly Wheelchair Accessible Taxis. We look forward to our continued engagement with the NSW Government towards further support in this regard.

We extend our thanks to NSW Government Representatives, from the Minister’s Office, Transport Secretary and Deputy Secretary as well as representatives from Transport Policy and P2P Commission for their support following our request.
