Barangaroo, Sydney Harbour, Circular Quay and The Rocks
Australia Day in Sydney will take place on Monday 26 January 2026, with a full day of activities and celebrations across Sydney Harbour and the CBD. From early morning Dawn Reflections and traditional ceremonies to lively daytime festival experiences and evening entertainment, the event offers something for the whole community.

Dawn Reflection at the Overseas Passenger Terminal from 5:20am to 5:40 am
WugulOra Morning Ceremony at Barangaroo Reserve from 7:30am to 8:30 am
Harbourfest at Circular Quay and The Rocks from 8:30am to 4pm
The Great Australian Wheelchair Race Oz Day 10K at George St, The Rocks from 8:45am
Ferrython on Sydney Harbour from 12:10pm to 12:30pm
Australia Day Live Concert at Sydney Opera House Forecourt from 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Information for Taxi Drivers
Demand for Taxis may be higher than usual on Australia Day, particularly in the evening, so please be patient and ensure you comply with road rules when trying to access a Taxi rank.
Some Taxi ranks in The Rocks and the CBD will be inaccessible due to road closures, including the Sydney Opera House Taxi rank.
A Special Event Taxi drop off and pick up point will be available in the P5 five-minute parking bay outside no. 1 Macquarie St, on the western side of the road, near the roundabout. It is not available for taxi parking or ranking.
Taxi Council Commissionaires will be operating the Special Event Pick up and Drop off Point on Macquarie Street.
Taxi drop off and pick-up locations on Macquarie Street are not available while road closures are in place from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
The nearest operating Taxi rank during the closure period will be the Chifley Square Taxi Rank, located on Phillip Street.
Taxi Council Commissionaires will be operating the Chifley Square Taxi rank between 7:30pm-10.30pm.
Accessible drop off and pickup locations
Accessible drop-off and pickup points will be available at the following locations (not available for parking):
The Rocks: Harrington Street, on the western side near Argyle Street in front of Clocktower Square from 3am to midnight. Excluding between 9:15pm and 10:15pm.
Circular Quay: Loftus Street, on the western side between Loftus Lane and Reiby Place, before 7.30pm and after 10.30pm.
Sydney Opera House/East Circular Quay: Macquarie Street, on the western side in the P5 parking bay near the Opera house, before 7.30pm and after 10.30pm.
Taxi Commissionaires
Taxi Commissionaires will be operating at the Special Event Taxi Pickup and Drop-off location at 1 Macquarie Street from 2:00pm to 7:30pm.
The Taxi Commissionaires will revert to Chifley Square rank between 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
