The CEO, NSW Taxi Council wrote a letter to the NSW Transport Minister, Jo Haylen in late June 2023 requesting for a Taskforce to be established to review Wheelchair Accessible Taxi (WAT) services across NSW.

The letter was co-signed by the CEO’s of organisations who are members of the NSW Taxi Council Disability Reference Group (DRG), including; Council for Intellectual Disability, Dementia Australia, Physical Disability Council NSW, Vision Australia, Council of the Ageing, Guide Dogs NSW and Spinal Cord Injuries Australia.

We were pleased to see the NSW Transport Minister recently announce an Industry Roundtable forum scheduled for Tuesday 14th November 2023. The NSW Taxi Council Chairman and CEO will be attending the Roundtable representing Taxis across Greater Sydney as well as Country and Regional NSW. Also attending will be representatives from the Disability Sector, NSW Government including the Point to Point Transport Commission as well as other stakeholders from the NSW Taxi Industry.

We thank all the DRG representatives and the NSW Government for their support as we work together towards helping people with a disability have access to improved services.

We look forward to attending the round table and providing further updates on this very important issue.
