Updated: Apr 29, 2021

The NSW Taxi Council is pleased to inform its members and the stakeholders of the NSW Taxi Industry that the Parliament of NSW - Upper House Committee - Portfolio Committee No. 6 on Transport and Customer Service has published its report on the Inquiry into the operation of the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Act 2016 today.

The report concludes that the financial assistance offered to the Taxi industry following the entry of rideshare services into the point to point transport market and the subsequent reforms has been insufficient and the committee has recommended that the NSW Government develop and implement a Buyback Scheme for the NSW Taxi industry.

The Committee has released its report as well as a press release to the public for the announcement.
